CATHOLIC Archbishop of Sydney Cardinal George Pell made a special visit to St Patrick’s College at Sutherland to bless its recently refurbished hall on Tuesday.

Cardinal Pell led the blessing ceremony in front of the school with a prayer and a symbolic sprinkle of holy water throughout the hall.

He then went outside to bless a new Celtic cross in one of the playground areas. Renovations were made in the hall to fit all 1100 students and 110 staff at one time. The mezzanine level was extended to include retractable seating to accommodate 400 students at a time.

A college spokeswoman said assemblies were held outside before renovations were completed last month.
