Cronulla Festival brings in spring
BY SANDRA SIAGIAN
CRONULLA Spring Festival marked a new season at Cronulla Plaza on the weekend. About 30,000 people turned up to the annual two-day event to check out the attractions including rides, motoring displays, a well-being exhibition and more than 100 market stalls. Sutherland Shire dance troupes and tribute bands took to the pavilion stage to entertain the crowds. Children could learn how to use a hula hoop, have their face painted and see an animal farm. “This year’s event was as spectacular as ever,” Cronulla Chamber of Commerce president Mark Aprilovic said. “The festival gives Cronulla businesses a unique opportunity to showcase themselves, reward shoppers with great bargains and brings a carnival atmosphere to the weekend for everyone to enjoy.” Cronulla central business district marketing co-ordinator and organiser Anita Best said organisers seemed to have luck in picking the right weekend for good weather every year. “Tribute bands were a crowd favourite,” Mrs Best said. “The Beatnix were full of energy and had people up on their feet dancing in the crowd.”
