About Sandra Siagian

I am a multimedia journalist, editor and producer with experience in Australia, Indonesia and the United States.

My professional journalism career started with Fairfax Media in Sydney at The St George and Sutherland Shire Leader, where I completed my cadetship and spent more than two years with the newspaper. During my time with the local publication I also filmed and produced videos and I was a presenter for a weekly news program on Television Sydney News.

I then moved to Jakarta, Indonesia, where I worked as a copy editor, web editor and a journalist for more than three years –  reporting on human rights, international affairs, social issues, the environment and the arts for BeritaSatu Media. I also continued to film and produce videos for the company’s English news channel.

During my last year in Jakarta, I took on a consultancy with UNFPA Indonesia to work as the agency’s media and communications officer. During the 11-month contract, I wrote feature articles, drafted opinion pieces for the Representative and multimedia content including advocacy videos.

I returned to Sydney in 2016 to work as a producer and journalist for the ABC News Channel – where I researched, scripted, edited and reported for digital, radio and television.

Today, I’m currently working as a senior content producer with CBS News’ 24-hour digital stream CSBN in New York.
