The St George and Sutherland Shire Leader
My career at the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader started with a three-month internship at the community newspaper starting in January 2010, after I received the Fairfax Community News – Journalism Scholarship from the University of Wollongong.
I had the opportunity to write stories for different rounds including local government council, education, youth issues and general news. During my internship I was able to use the skills I had acquired in university to produce some convergent pieces including three multimedia pieces to accompany my print pieces for the web.
My internship led to a cadetship at the southern Sydney newspaper, where I was the real estate and features reporter for two-and-a-half years.
